Planning Analyst

The Planning Analyst supports the creation of financial plans for new clients.  The analyst works with the entire Connecticut Wealth Management team supporting introductory financial planning engagements for prospects and new clients. Analysts are responsible for gathering, entering, and beginning analysis of data in the development of financial plans and supporting the lead financial planner and advisor team.

  • Gather and organize client data needed to develop a financial plan.
  • Input and analyze client data in the firm’s planning software to draft projections, presentations, and reports that are thorough, accurate, educational, and relevant for the audience.
  • Ability to contextualize a fact beyond surface level.
  • Support senior team members by creating financial plans and proactively preparing materials for client meetings, obtaining feedback about prepared plans, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Participate in preparation meetings discussing recommendations to be made to clients. Ask questions to understand methodology and priorities involved in making recommendations.
  • Draft meeting summary letters or client communication for review by senior teammates.
  • Interact with clients and build positive relationships through telephone, email, and at firm events. May attend planning client meetings and take notes. Answer basic questions for clients or direct client requests to appropriate colleagues.
  • Complete all assigned client activities in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and process necessary paperwork for financial planning engagements.
  • Develop basic knowledge of financial planning and the development of financial plans.
  • Read industry articles/literature and participate in training opportunities.
  • Research new strategies, products, or investments for client recommendations.
  • Assist client service team with onboarding and transitioning new clients.
  • Maintain client and firm information in the CRM system. Set up and retrieve reports for department/teammates.
  • Keep planning and advisory teams informed of all progress/issues.
  • Follow the firm’s planning curriculum and service standards for all clients providing comprehensive financial planning and exceptional client service.
  • Show understanding of clients’ goals, needs, and satisfaction level to proactively service them.
  • Support high quality planning engagements to attract prospects and convert them to ongoing clients.
  • Support the use of the firm’s financial planning software for all team members, maintaining data and settings for most effective use. Assist new teammates in learning how to use planning software.
  • Support the firm with internal projects, strategic initiatives, and administrative responsibilities.

  • Set a positive example in balancing professional responsibilities with personal life. Be available to clients outside of normal working hours for extraordinary circumstances.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Series 65 licensed or equivalent, or willingness to attain within 3 months of employment.
  • CFP or PFS, or progress towards certifications.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant financial planning experience.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and is adaptable to the changing needs and priorities.
  • Able to navigate systems and processes, as well identifying potential process improvement.
  • Will work based in our Farmington, CT with some work-from-home flexibility.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office.
  • No financial service experience necessary.
  • Demonstrate desire for or progress towards CFP or PFS.
