Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) recently launched In Good Company, a new series designed to build a community for business owners, providing a safe space for honest conversation, collaborative problem-solving, and mutual support.
The goal is not to be a lecture series or just another networking event. In Good Company is built on the belief that business ownership is complex and often isolating, but it does not have to be that way. Every business is unique, but the challenges many owners face are shared. There is strength in being in a room with others who understand the weight of leadership because they are living it too.
In this first gathering, CTWM hosted a diverse group of business owners spanning industries like construction, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. Conversations were guided but informal, with breakout groups diving into a few of the challenges that are currently top of mind:
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: How do you attract and keep great people when each generation holds different values about work-life balance, culture, and career? Owners shared insights on integrating these perspectives and maintaining culture across hybrid or multi-generational teams.
- Succession Planning: Whether formal plans are in place or not, concern around succession is always top of mind. Many owners see solving talent and culture challenges as key to enabling a successful and smooth transition.
- Navigating Change: From evolving regulatory environments and rapid technological advances like AI, to shifts in cultural expectations about what work looks like, owners are wrestling with how to adapt while keeping their businesses strong.
But the biggest takeaway wasn’t a checklist of solutions. It was the shared sense that no one is doing this alone. The challenges of business ownership are real, and they are complex. In the right space and with the right people, business owners can gain something just as valuable as a new idea: perspective, clarity, and the confidence to keep moving forward.
“Our mission at CTWM is to help people turn their life’s aspirations into reality,” said Kevin Leahy, President & CEO. “For business owners, that includes having a place to connect, reflect, and think strategically. In Good Company brings that idea to life by building an honest and open community for these individuals.”
The In Good Company series will continue to evolve based on participant feedback and interests. Topics may shift, but the goal remains the same: to create a trusted network for business owners to connect, reflect, and support one another.
