Connecticut Wealth Management (CTWM) is a well-established, fast-growing, independent, registered investment advisory firm. CTWM is currently seeking a Controller who will be responsible for planning and directing the accounting operations of the firm. This role will establish, monitor, and ensure internal controls are followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to safeguard assets and minimize risk.
  • Prepare the annual budget.
  • Prepare cash flow projections.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements. Prepare monthly and quarterly budget to actual and detailed expense reports to analyze significant budget differences.
  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Assist management with important financial decisions.
  • Oversee company credit card.
  • Oversee accounts payable and expense management.
  • Oversee payroll process.
  • Monitor loan activity and debt covenant compliance.
  • Oversee Benefits and relationship with Benefits Broker.
  • Manage business insurance/relationship with business insurance broker; complete annual insurance applications; review proposals.
  • Excellent management skills to oversee the Accounting Manager.
  • Keep up to date on best practices in the industry.
  • Special projects and other duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Manage ad hoc accounting issues as they arise on a day-to-day basis.
  • Liaison with accounting firm regarding tax planning, tax preparation, and reviewed financial statement information.
  • Manage all financial activity for related real estate entity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance preferred.
  • CPA License/certificate.
  • 7 years of experience. Experience in an RIA firm a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with teammates and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and adaptable to changing needs and priorities.
  • Able to navigate systems and processes, as well identifying potential process improvement.
  • Will work based in our Farmington, CT office with partial hybrid work-from-home flexibility.
